Ice King, Adventure Time

Stuff About Shelves

The past few days have been busy. I've been organizing my room and its been going pretty well. I now have shelves for my Wii and DS games, which have needed them pretty bad. I just kept my Wii games have just been in a stack in random places, and my DS games were in my nightstand drawer, but I have had an influx of those, so they were overfilling the drawer, causing the bottom to bow out. Now they all sit neatly on a shelf. Go me.

Another thing I did was convert a 72" 5-shelf bookcase to about 42" 4-shelf bookcase. I placed the movable shelves closer, so I could keep the increasing number of cartoon dvds, manga, and anime sets, stuff people will probably no borrow. I have two more dvd sets coming in (for those of you who are stalking me on Facebook, you see me add myself to groups called "Negima" and "Love Hina", both that are excellent animes that you can look forward to seeing reviews of in the future. In fact, I am working on a textual one for the other School Rumble sets and Azumanga Daioh that will be on here soon.

The last shelf was a basic media shelf for my general DVD/DVD sets. I have all my Lost, Heroes, Chuck, Pushing Daisies, Brisco County Jr., Dilbert, Everybody Loves Raymond, Eureka, Blue Collar TV, Psych, Monk, and Mythbusters DVDs on the shelves with room to spare, which suits me fine. Mayhaps I should post photos of all of these shelves when I think they are ready. Hmm. Not bad for a personal collection, I say.

Speaking of collections, I can now count what I have on my shelves. Looks like I have around 40+ Nintendo DS titles and 16-ish Wii titles. Yeah, I love my DS more than my Wii, but I also have downloaded plenty of titles on the Wii itself, so it all evens out. I have 6 anime sets (could've sworn I had another one or two...), unless you count Beast Wars as an anime, in which case it would be 9, and if I am shameless enough to admit I have 3 Pokemon sets (hey, it defined my childhood, ok? I'm not too proud of it), and the complete Sonic X series.....but definitely 6 (with two on the way, plus the eventual box set of Lucky Star when it comes out) "hard core" non-kiddie animes here. Sure, they may be more "girly" animes, but they are more awesome and tasteful than the hard/softcore porn that most Otaku love. I am not an Otaku, by the way. I just like the entertainment.

DVD sets are in a class of their own. I honestly have no clue how many sets I actually own. Dozens, I'm sure. I get them a lot for Christmas/Birthdays. Speaking of which, mine is less than a month from now. Wow. I haven't noticed. Digressiness aside, the number of sets I own pales in comparison to other people, more specifically my sister, who could probably own her own DVD set store, or museum, or something. Her collection is HUGE. I'm pretty sure she hasn't even opened most of them. I at least watch all of mine.

Lastly there's manga. I have the Azumanga Daioh Omnibus (600+ pages of funny fun), the first 11 issues of School Rumble (that is all that is out stateside as of this writing), Volume one of Haruhi Suzumiya, the first three volumes of Shakugan no Shana as well as the first couple of light novels. That is it, surprisingly. I am thinking of taking up Love Hina, but I need to preview it first to make sure it isn't too much for me to handle, because the manga looks much more adult oriented than the anime series has been so far. If you don't believe me, just look it up on Amazon, and you will see some VERY suggestive covers. I am looking to collect the entirety of School Rumble (trust me, I will be even more excited when the manga surpasses the anime in terms of plot since the third season probably won't happen as far as 26 episodes are concerned), but I am not sure about the others yet. I will probably also put my Watchmen comic there as soon as I am done rereading it.

All in all, I guess I can maybe say I have a hobby, collecting random stuff, but I would do a lot more as soon as I get a better paying job (including possible convention outings. I've been wanting to go to one for a while now). I do enjoy watching these (until I get my sets, I am probably going to re-re-rewatch School Rumble again) and reading them from time to time when I get bored (more so when school isn't in session). That wraps it up for this time, as I need to spend some time on organizing tomorrow's Mega Media Monday. It'll be weird, trust me :D.

Until then.
