...Anyways, I personally like all of these songs on here, but I would not call myself a hair band fanatic by any stretch of the imagination. Please just sit back, bang your head, and let the music flow through you vains like a milkshake through a lactose intolerant person!
Also, please find the 5 rules of a successful Hair Band music video within the link!
Yes, I know my analogies suck!
Poison - Talk Dirty to Me
This video cracks me up, because you can TOTALLY tell its from the 80's. HA! I do need to stress my freaked-outness by some of the...er...poses(?) and such. Kinda weird, but hey, if it freaks you out too much, then just go to another tab/window, and just enjoy the song.
By the way, notice the hair? This brings me to my first rule of hair band music videos:
1) All videos much feature at least 10 locks of hair in each shot.
Ok, I will now allow you to seek psychiatric after watching that. I think this also raises an (unspoken) rule that:
Hair metal bands really shouldn't do a video of themselves like that.
Motley Crue - Kickstart my Heart
AHHH!!!! They won't let me embed this one >.< Fine, view it here.
While "Smokin' in the Boys Room" is classic, yes, I'll admit that, but really, my favorite song by this hair band is "Kickstart my Heart". Watch as they perform and...crash cars...evidently....
Oh yeah. Don't watch this is you're epileptic....
This also brings up rule #2 - Always use irrelevant footage (the phone call, cars and boats) in your videos.
Bon Jovi - You Give Love a Bad Name
Well sucky McSuckster, they won't let me embed the video either :(. I guess I'll just link it here.
This one is yet ANOTHER stage performance one. Wow. I am sensing a theme here. Oh, and gnarly clothes, guys. Really radical, if you get my drift, which is rule #3 - Always wear the LATEST fashions, no matter how gender specific it is!
Guns 'N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle
Yes, another Guitar Hero III song, but I really didn't have a song I liked by this group until...well, not the game, but when I found out that the producers of Lost use it for inspiration. After that fact, I listened to this song a bit.
I thought I FINALLY found a video where the band wasn't just on stage....then....:(
But look at how prominent the mics are. Its almost like they are....wait! That's it! Rule #4 - Making out with the microphone is TOTALLY normal, man.
Slade - Run Runaway
I needed a "What the..." song on here. Ok, so maybe Slade isn't a true "hair band". I have listened to plenty of hair bands, and I think the style of music is close enough. I mean there isn't much difference between Glam (hair) Metal and Glan Rock, so I included them in the list, and not only that, I wanted to make sure there was a song you possibly never heard before, and I think this one fits the bill. I love it, because its rock mixed with scottish-sounding stuffs. Totally hair, man! Totally hair.
Saddened as I am, they too felt the need to perform. Sigh. Ok, fine, rule #5 - Always do your videos WHILE PERFORMING ON A FREAKIN' STAGE!!!
Another week has come and gone, and I thank you for listening to these for the week. A review of the rules of a good hair band music video.
Rule #1: All videos much feature at least 10 locks of hair in each shot.
Rule #2: Always use irrelevant footage in your videos.
Rule #3: Always wear the LATEST fashions, no matter how gender specific it is!
Rule #4: Making out with the microphone is TOTALLY normal, man.
Rule #5: Always do your videos WHILE PERFORMING ON A FREAKIN' STAGE!!!
Again, I ask for comments and suggestions for future videos and themes, by emailing me, instant message, or sounding out below. I hope you look forward to a new Mega Media Monday next week! Until then, happy watching!
